For those of you who are concerned about space and weight of a larger light stand you might want to take a look at the Manfrotto Nano light stand. It's about $55 and rises to 6ft. I have some and they work great for holding umbrellas and small light boxes. The great benefit is they fold up into a very thin and short package that travels well.
