Dennis Kleiman

Dennis Kleiman is a photographer based out of New York. I noticed that a lot of his work uses flash or strobes as a fill light. Here are some examples of his work:

Grades have been posted to Blackboard

Hi Class,

The available light assignment has been graded and your grade is available on Blackboard.

Note for the next assignment: Upload your images before 3pm. If your work is uploaded after 3pm, even by a few minutes, you lose a letter grade. Every day that it is late after that you lose another letter.

You all did a good job on this assignment, but I would like to see you making more interesting images and not just demonstrating the source of light. If this means you have to shoot outside of class, please do so. You should be able to use this work in your portfolio.

Thanks!

Jessica

Haunted Tour of Richmond

Today while I was visiting the Edgar Allen Poe museum, I met a young man who does ghost tours in Richmond. He and his partners dress up in period costumes and wear character make-up throughout the tour. The tours take around 1 1/2 hours, and he shows people around where the train is buried in Church Hill, among other places in the city.

Is anyone interested in taking a tour at night and photographing? I was thinking we could do this in lieu of shooting in class someday.

Leave a comment on this post if you are interested in this. It would be around $10 a person, and I totally understand if not everyone can afford it.

Thanks!

Jessica

Shoot next Friday

I have a shoot with a client of mine from Los Angeles next Friday. I need a couple of extra hands on the shoot, so please let me know if you are interested and available! This will be a great opportunity to get hands-on experience working on a location shoot. Email me if you are interested!

Photography Videos

Nikon has some free videos that are really helpful. I really enjoyed the ones by Joe McNally on Control of Color parts 1 & 2. Photography Videos

Chase Jarvis has excellent videos on everything from working in RAW, packing gear, and lighting. Chase Jarvis
Here is a specific link to a video he made that talks positive about the photography business in relation to the proliferation of images. Positive Vibes
